Take It As It Comes

I had a tough day yesterday.

My wife's Aunt Joann is in very critical condition. She has advanced bone cancer, and this horrible disease is eating away at her bones at an unrepentant speed. What makes this whole thing worse is two things: One, my wife just got in contact with her aunt no more than 3 months ago after having lost contact with her over 10 years ago. Longer than that, more than likely, since she and I have been married for almost 8 years now. Secondly - and most important - both her mother and my mother fell to this same disease. Her mother just weeks before our wedding, and my mother a few months after the wedding. And, ironically, my mother died on her mother's birthday.

Anyway, because of several factors, my wife and I have ended up being the main provider of putting together money for her aunt's funeral services. I didn't realize this - none of us did to be honest - funeral homes must have all of the money needed to take care of the remains up front. You can't contract a funeral home and pay them monthly after the fact. So, some how or another, we have to come up with the sum of $2100 before Aunt Joann passes.

My wife set up several Ebay auctions selling a lot of the items we have sitting around the house, but after ebay fees, shipping fees and paypal fees, we don't end up with very much. We had a little money left over from some educational financial aid that we had "just in case". We pawned a gold bracelet my wife's mother left for her. We have borrowed money from friends, and several others have donated to help us out. But it's still not enough. And that realization made me bitter yesterday. Very, very bitter.

Ask anyone who knows me well, it takes a hell of a lot to put me in a foul state of mind, and this situation certainly did. Even with a few people able to step forward and help out - some with very generous funds - I thought I had more support. A couple of bucks from everyone I know - that's less than a value meal at a fast food joint - would help us out tremendously. It really doesn't have to be much. I was really counting on friends and family rallying around me in this very stressful time. But a lot haven't yet. I don't know why, and I usually am not one to pry, but this really bothered me to my core.

And so, I had a miserable day yesterday.

Until I realized that I was the only one making myself miserable. Here were people willing to come forward and help us out, and I wasn't looking at that. I was looking at the larger number of people who didn't help out. Then I had another thought: Maybe they couldn't help out. Or maybe they just felt they didn't want to. I was making them "wrong" for that, and in doing so I became miserable, not them. I had to finally let go of that. They all have their reasons, justifications and choices, and I cannot control that. If they didn't want to help, or just couldn't, or were too embarrassed to help out with just a few bucks because they felt that a few bucks wouldn't be enough - whatever the reason - it doesn't matter. Here's what does: I asked for help. I got some help. The rest will be taken care of as it comes.

I woke up this morning with a fresh perspective on things. I seem to be getting better. Yes, Aunt Joann is still suffering at the moment. But not too much longer. And I have friends that will be there for me when she does pass. That's all that matters.

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone...

Love,

JC

Being Thankful

Yesterday I talked about gratitude, and how it is the single most important key factor in manifesting your life into anything you want - other than Love, obviously. But without gratitude, love doesn't quite carry the same emotional punch. After all, anyone can say that they are grateful for this, that, or the other. But by truly feeling it, from your head down to your soul, it automatically evokes a feeling of love that can be so overwhelming at times that it just doesn't seem real or even possible.

Along with 'grateful' comes of course, 'thankful'. Now these two words can be interchanged at times, but I think that there is a slight difference, but just very slight. At any rate, there is a slight difference to me. And since this is my blog, I think I should just downright say that. Okay, now that I'm off my high horse, we can continue.

Sure, there's a lot I am grateful for, but there is so much that I am thankful for, that I think I will share some of them with you:

I am thankful for my wife, for putting up with me and my eccentricities for the past (almost) 9 years. I could not survive without you, and sadly, you know it.

I am thankful for my job as it gives me money to purchase food, keep a roof over my head, and plenty of humorous situations to laugh about.

I am thankful that I have friends and family that care for me, support me, and laugh at me when I do something stupid.

I am thankful that I am relatively healthy, have all five senses, can walk, can sit up, and type with my hands.

I am thankful that I know how to write, think and speak clearly.

I am thankful for laughter, music, poetry, theater, art, for which if I were missing any of these, my life would be amazingly empty indeed.

I am thankful for my pets that give me unrequited love as long as I give them treats, and laugh at me when I do something stupid.

I am thankful for my sense of humor, without which my life would be amazingly empty indeed.

I am thankful that I get to share this blog with people from all over the world and make a small difference in your lives. For that I am forever thankful.

What are you thankful for?

To your success and mine!

Love,
JC

What An Attitude!

I have been studying this Law of Attraction stuff for quite some time. I have found many, many books, articles, blogs, websites, podcasts, etc etc etc regarding said subject over the course of several years.Obviously, as with any subject, each teacher I have found has a slight variation on this theme.

If, however, I were to find any sort of a common thread I would say it could be summed up in just one word:

Gratitude.

This seems to be the most important component to anything and everything you wish to do in life. The key to it, if there truly is one - and I'm sure there is - is to really truly feel gratitude within your whole being. Not just your body, but your entire entity.

The strange thing about it that I find is that it is so easy to feel grateful for so many things. And then it's soon very easy to not feel grateful at all. It's all perception, and it gets easier and easier to feel grateful the more we do it. It's like anything else in life, it becomes habitual.

And there are so many things to be grateful for: Your health, your family, your job, the very fact you can complain about your job because you do have one, the computer you use to read this blog, this blog itself (if you DO feel grateful about it - share it with others. Tweet it, post to Facebook, email it, shout it from the rooftops. You may get some funny looks if you do the last thing, though.)

The more you stop and feel grateful, the better your day will go, and of course the better your life will go, and so on and so forth. It's really quite a simple process, that of course because it is deceptively simple, it's very difficult to keep up.

But don't worry, you have me and this blog behind ya. And I believe in you.

For more thoughts on feeling grateful, please visit my friend Jodi's blog: http://www.soulfuljournals.blogspot.com/  It's chockful of good stuff on feeling grateful.

The Power of Suggestion

Since discovering some of the secrets to creating your life through positive thinking, I've noticed a strange consistency: No matter what my intention, or how strong my belief, the Universe will sometimes throw some kind of roadblock my way.

Let me rephrase that: It's not the Universe putting up roadblocks. Nor is it God, Allah, The Great Spirit, or even your Aunt Sally. It's you.

The Universe, in and of itself, doesn't care one bit either way what your intention is. Or, if you'd like to, just replace the word "Universe" with whatever deity you may or may not believe in. The fact of the matter is that "it" - whatever it may be for you - is not to blame. You are.

You are your only obstacle in reaching your goals. Somewhere inside your programming, your subconcious conspires against you.

It could be something simple like an old programming thought: "The only way to succeed in life is to work hard." Which of course is not true, there are lots of people who are considered to be successes that don't work hard. Now, to clarify that, they DO work, just seemingly not hard.

It could be some other programming you might have that says that this kind of forward thinking I'm presenting is complete bunk. Which makes that phrase absolutely true for you. Or it could be that things seem to be working quite well for you, and lo and behold somewhere in your psyche there's a voice that speaks up: "Whoa! This can't be right! I'm... I'm... happy! Life is supposed to be hard and difficult!" And of course somehow your "luck runs out" and you're back to square one.

But what if the opposite were true? What if you said to yourself, "Things are not as difficult as they seem. Hey, this is even fun!!" Imagine how good your life would feel if you were always having fun?!?

It is indeed possible, but like anything else in life, you do have to work for it. But it can be fun! Anyone wanna join me?

To your success and mine!

Love,

Keep Quite Still

There have been a lot of things on my mind - maybe too many, I'm not sure. One thing is absolutely for certain, I cannot continue the way I have been going. Anyone who has known me for any amount of time knows that I am a student of the Law of Attraction. Heck, anyone who has been on this blog for more than a minute can probably figure that out.

For whatever reason, however, I seem to be stuck in a funk. Maybe like a great many of you out there as well.

It's not that the Law of Attraction doesn't work. In fact, the very fact that I am in a funk proves without a doubt that it is working. Mainly because I haven't been thinking about anything very positive for too long at all. Or worse, I have been thinking about nothing at all! Which makes my life relatively empty and full of, well... nothing.

Ever since I began reposting these positive tweets, I have been focusing back on my personal behaviors; One thing that is immediately noticeable to me is that I haven't been giving myself any positive reinforcement of any kind.

There are several methods for positive reinforcement, of course. There isn't a single "wrong" one. It's just that some methods work better for some people, and other methods work better for others.

Me personally, I like Ho'oponopono. This is a Hawaiian Clearing method, designed to realign a life out of balance and put the earth right with the ancestors. This was introduced to me by Dr. Joe Vitale, who learned of it himself from Dr  I'Haleakala Hew Len. His story is amazing, Click Here to find out more.

To put it incredibly simply, the method is this: You are 100% responsible for everything in your life. If there is something negative in your life, you can clear it by using a very simple four phrases:

I'm Sorry
Please Forgive Me
Thank You
I Love You

Seriously, that's it. It seems to work for me, but I made the mistake of letting the illusion of this world take over. I will be restarting this method, and I will keep you informed as to how it's going.

For the meantime however, the easiest thing for anyone to do is just keep still and quiet for a few moments and breathe. I will be doing the same.

To your success and mine!

Love,
JC

24 Hours of Inspirational Tweets

I sometimes think to myself, in the wee small hours of the morning, that I shouldn’t be this positive. After all, if I take a look around at almost any given point in time, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of positivity anywhere. Turn on the news – forget it! Walk down the street, stop at a gas station or grocery store, you get the picture.

I think, though, that it’s in times like this that we really need positive thoughts and inspirations of any kind. I think this was the basis for my posting these quotes. It’s my hope that you found your way here because you really needed it, and I was able to help in some small way.

So, to your success and mine, here’s today’s feed:

Learning To Fly

I have always been someone who is concerned with the way people think about me, or simply what they think about me. I don't know how or when this happened, but I cannot remember a time when I wasn't like this. Because of this, I believe, I give off an air of desperation.

I have always wanted to be liked, admired, appreciated, and it always seemed that I never did get what I was so desperate to have.

I don't know how to fix that.

Let me rephrase that. I "know" how to fix it, but it is incredibly difficult, mainly because it's an emotional state of being. I have always envied those people among us who didn't give two shakes as to what the world thought of them, and did whatever the heck they felt like doing at any given point in the day. For me, I always felt as though I had other responsibilities and other duties to take care of before I took care of what I wanted, or needed to do, as long as it didn't inconvenience anyone else.

I'm 40 now, and I'm still living with a code that I built for myself when I was a kid.

I suppose if I were to look at it from a psychological point of view, I did what I did because I did not want to disappoint my parents. Even now, my worse fear in the world is disappointing anyone - I hate that. I always feel miserable and beat myself up for it.

That's not healthy. Heck, that's not even "normal" - if you can define that word at all.

I read lots of motivational books, and subscribe to lots of positive thinking affirmations sent to me by email, web, or twitter. I have podcasts, magazines, e-magazines and all kinds of literature that pretty much all say the same thing: Let go of this need.

I'd like to, I really would - but it's not easy. (Well, heck, if it were easy then everyone would do it.) Even with this blog I am constantly looking to see how many people read it, how many subscribe, is there a way I can get my readership up, etc etc. I do it all under the guise of I want to help other people reach their highest power. The underlying current is: I want people to like me and think I'm smart.

I'm working on it. It's a long road ahead, I know it is. But I know I can do it.

So, to your success and mine, here's today's thought: Relax. Let go. Trust in the Universe. It will take you to where you need to be. It led you here, didn't it?
