Ha ha. Just kidding.
When preparing for a trip, especially one that involves one leaving from one's house, it goes without one saying that using the word "one" repeatedly can make one seem onely pretentious, wouldn't one say? But to prepare for an upcoming trip takes a lot of time and effort. My wife and I have completely differing opinions when it comes to preparing for this trip. At this moment, as I am writing this article, she is quite busy picking out clothes, washing clothes that have been sitting for a while, packing hair care, makeup, deciding what outfit she's going to wear on what day, etc etc. I am preparing for this trip in this manner:
1. Picking out what snacks I would like to enjoy on this trip.
2. Deciding on my travel playlists for my mp3 player.
3. Finding out where the rest areas are along the road, so I can load up on more snacks.
4. Tracking down my mp3 player, and discovering it is now under a dresser thanks to one of several cats.
5. Remembering to include shirts and underwear in my packing.
6. Tracking down an actual suitcase to use instead of the duffle bag I'd like to use.
7. Looking up the actual correct spelling of "duffle". I tried both "duffle" and "duffel" and both came up incorrect on spellcheck. Amazingly, so did the word "spellcheck".
8. Remembering that my wife would probably like to have some snacks too.
etc, etc.
One of the most important things that had to be done to prepare for this trip is to make sure that our vehicle was in good working order. To do this we had to take our car to an auto mechanic, who was very nice and friendly as he explained things to me using such words as "grommet" and "pinch valve" and "engine", while he pointed at things and I nodded and frowned thoughtfully. Then I signed over my paycheck to him. The same thing happened at the tire shop, only using different words, but with the same result. I've gotten very good and nodding and frowning thoughtfully.
In closing I would like to point out that vacations are a lot of work, and even during the trip it can get quite stressful, which leads me to conclude that I should definitely bring more snacks.
